The next new moon is in Scorpio and falls on 7 November (11:03pm EST) or very early morning on 8 November – depending which part of the world you are in. You should always check your local times. But always remember that the new moon energies can be harnessed at least three days before and for at least three days after. So you can use the whole week to harness the new moon energy for your rituals and ceremonies.
New Moon Meaning
A new moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of another new 28 day cycle. So this is an excellent time for making a fresh start, turning over a new leaf or starting a new project. It is also a time to question old habits, behaviours and beliefs and to search for new and inventive ways to move forward.
This new moon is in the sign of Scorpio. This sign is all about power, empowerment, transformation of the self and of humanity, death and rebirth, the ability to manifest our desire and power over others. Accordingly, it’s a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of Scorpio. This cycle also represents an opportunity to rid ourselves of the “junk” in our lives, whether its physical, emotional or spiritual. One of Scorpio’s “lessons” involves learning to dig deeper into the mysteries around us instead of always being content with the status quo. Taking the time to understand other people’s motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and sense of meaning.
Scorpio also teaches us that dedication to one meaningful relationship or undertaking can be significantly more satisfying than spreading ourselves around. Here, “quality over quantity” applies. We might want to use this cycle to work on focusing on and developing one special project or relationship in order to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives.
Other constructive traits of the sign of the Scorpio are being passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep and perceptive. So this is a time to consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives. Scorpio new moons are also good for pinpointing the things in our lives that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these burdens. Use this time to explore what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in these self-destructive behaviours. This can also be a time for seeking ways to release our fear of confrontations and of heavy emotional situations, recognising that although they may be uncomfortable, these situations can lead us toward psychological healing.
Harnessing the Energy of the New Moon
Dreams – Pay attention to your dreams during this time. Your angels, guides or ancestors will send you messages through your dreams. Dreams are not to be interpreted literally. To help you interpret any dreams, pay attention to how you feel during the dream, check for any symbols, signs or numbers during the dream, and also pay attention to what the people in the dreams represent in your life. To help you remember your dreams use some mugwort and crystals like amethyst. You can place the crystals under your pillow. Also keep a dream journal next to you to record them as soon as you wake up as we tend to forget our dreams within moments of waking up.Write It Down – As the new moon is all about new beginnings, you can set your intentions by writing down all the things you want to manifest during this period. When writing down what you want to manifest, write it down in the present tense. For example, instead of writing “I want to attract enough money to pay off all my debts”, you should write “I have enough money to pay off all my debts”. Write it down as if it has already happened. You can also add timeframes that you want your intentions to manifest. When you have written it down, you can make a sigil out of it and place it on your altar for seven days or until the next full moon. Meditate with the sigil or paper in your hands. Visualise what you have written down as if it has already happened. At the end of the seven days or during the next full moon, you should burn the paper/sigil so your intentions go out into the universe. Alternatively, you can bury it outside in the earth so your intentions can “grow” over time.
Vision Board – To create a vision board, cut out images of the things you want to manifest, for example images of places you want to visit, your dream house, your dream job, a briefcase of money etc. You can add words and symbols that represent the things you want to manifest. Glue all the images on your board. Place each item with intention and then place it on your altar. Visualise everything on your board as already happening during your meditation.
Clear your home – To make space for new energy into your home, you can smudge your home to release old or negative energy. Light your sage or incense. You can use a feather to to swirl the smoke from the sage around. Do this throughout your whole house, paying special attention to your doors, pantry, cupboards, wardrobes and windows. Cleanse with the intention of letting in the new beginning that you are manifesting. You can either visualize your intention or you can vocalize your intention to the universe with an affirmation laced with gratitude. If you are leaving it open to the universe, then have the intention of being open to whatever it sends you. Trusting that it will be for your higher good. Once you are finished with the house, wave the smoke from the sage stick or incense around yourself with the intention of cleansing and opening yourself up to new beginnings and inspirations.
Happy New Moon!!
