About: Sahasrara is the 7th Chakra that integrates all seven of the Chakras within the physical body. It is the source of enlightenment and spiritual connection to all that is. It’s the connection to our higher selves, to every being on the planet and ultimately to the divine energy that is the creator of all in the universe. This chakra brings about a sense of knowing that there is a deeper meaning to life. It governs our awareness of, and communion with, higher consciousness, wisdom, liberation from limiting patterns, enlightenment, ecstasy, bliss and presence. The crown chakra is both a receiver and giver of energy. It receives energy to sustain life and it gives back the energy to unite with the collective pool of consciousness. The life force from the universe penetrates into your energy system through the crown, moves within the crown, and down through the other chakra energy centers, then out and back again through the root chakra. The crown chakra is the meeting point between the finite (the body and the ego) and the infinite (the universe and soul). It is the place where time and timelessness intersect. It is where one can transcend the physical laws of nature. This chakra is represented by the violet colour which is the color of cosmic awareness and cosmic consciousness. It is a unifying color, the color of oneness and spirituality.

Healing the Crown Chakra
Crown Chakra Affirmation: I know
Mantra: Ah (chant during meditation). Silence
Essential oils: Sage, lavender, frankincense, copal, myrrh, juniper and blue lotus are great oils for the crown chakra. Use only pure, non-diluted oils. These pure oils can be consumed, diffused into the air to be inhaled, can be put on the body or bath water – but check that the oil you are about to use is safe to use with water first.
Food: The colours of the chakras are linked to the foods that they need so any foods that are purple in colour will help balance this chakra. This includes purple grapes, purple kale, blueberries, purple cabbage, eggplant and purple carrots. In addition foods such as mushrooms, garlic, ginger, onions, lychees, coconuts and other tropical fruits also help with this chakra.
However, because the crown chakra is more spiritual than earthly, detoxing, eating light meals and fasting helps our bodies flush out toxins and clear our mind which helps to open up our crown. Nourishment of this chakra also comes from sources other than food, including surrounding ourselves with love and having a strong connection to the Divine.
Crystals: Many crystals emanate vibrations that parallel the chakras and each chakra has a corresponding crystal companion. For this chakra use any purple or clear stones such as selenite, amethyst, clear quartz and diamonds. You can carry them around with you, have them around the house, put them next to your bed, wear them, put them under your pillow, meditate with them around you or whilst holding them.
Your surroundings: Create a sacred space for you to mediate or pray regularly. This could just be a cushion in your room with some candles and crystals around you. You can also set up an altar in your space to ensure that your home has a dedicated sacred space.
Exercises: Yoga poses that are ideal for this chakra include supported headstands (salamba sirsasana), plow pose (Halasana), supported shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana), lotus pose (Padmasana), seated forward bend pose (Paschimottanasana) and reclining bound angle (Supta Baddha Konasana).
